Octagons, Eight Ways

My love affair with the sunburst mirror is ongoing, in spite of the fact that they are everywhere (how could so many people be wrong – right?). But when I stumbled across this octagonal alternative last weekend at World Market, I knew I was head-over-heels for this fresher-than-a-sunburst mirror shape.

Austin Octagon Studded Mirror World Market, $149.99

As I was standing in the store, my brain was 100 steps ahead, planning our entry hall around this amazing mirror. Reason (and a lack of a good coupon) caught hold, but the Austin mirror inspired me to see what else is out there when it comes to octagon mirrors. Here’s a round up of eight-sided beauties, with something for every budget.

Antiqued Gold & Silver Octagon Mirror
$179.95 from Pier 1. So shiny, Mad Men-ish, and just the right touch for a romantic-but-glamorous bedroom design.

Teak Octagon Mirror $171.99 from Overstock. The rustic frame and clean shape would be the perfect way to warm up a super modern living room.

Allen + Roth Quatrefoil Octagon
$64.97 from Lowe’s. Two of my favorite shapes, together as 1 – an octagon AND a quatrefoil. If the black frame isn’t your cup of tea, envision this mirror with a gold-leaf finish. Love!

Arteriors Avril Platinum Leaf Octagon Mirror$143 from Avid Home. The aged silver glams up this otherwise-unadorned octagonal mirror. Think elegant dining room.

Style Selections Beveled Frameless Octagon Mirror$44.97 from Lowe’s. Simple, elegant, and perfect in a powder room with a brightly patterned wallpaper in the background.

Let’s cast budgets to the wind for these last two, shall we?

Driftwood Octagonal MirrorIt’s from Ballard Designs, and sports a $299 price tag, so we should expect no less than perfection – this mirror definitely delivers.

Afina Radiance Octagon Mirror$411 from Walmart.com. I heard your jaw hit the floor when you read that. Apparently, the mirror is just sold through Walmart – the actual retailer is Wayfair. Who knew you could cause that much damage to your pocketbook by buying a mirror from Walmart?

Do your loyalties lie with the sunburst, or are you swayed by the eight-sided? I’ve got one foot in each camp… and lots of empty walls!
